Ok, here I go with this whole blogging thing...
I'm sitting in my new Park Slope apartment surrounded by all of my furniture, clothes, books, etc. Although Mike has done a good job getting everything set up, there is still lots of work to be done. My two giant suitcases that came with me have become two huge mounds of clothes in the middle of the floor. My plan for today is to get all my clothes put away and begin getting ready to paint.
The trip here felt long and my world as I knew it in Seattle seems far away. Zoka and I had quite the adventure getting through the airport and then sitting on the plane for five hours. He behaved very well considering he had to spend the entire time squished into his carrier and shoved under the seat in front of me. All I can say is Benadryl works wonders!
When Mike got home from class yesterday we took Zoka for a walk down 7th Ave (the main strip of shops and restaurants near us) and then to Prospect Park. The weather here is still very hot and humid so both Zoka and I were sweating and panting while Mike was fine since he has already adjusted to the change in climate. We then walked to Home Depot (1 mile) and bought two gallons of paint and all the necessary supplies and carried them the mile-long walk back. Needless to say we were both hot and tired by then.
For dinner we went to this nice pizza restaurant near our apartment and had what Mike rates as the second best pizza he's had in NY so far. After that we headed into downtown Brooklyn to meet up with some of Mike's law school friends at a bar having a fundraiser for the Law School.
Today I hope to at least get unpacked and then venture into the city this evening to do some shopping ... or at least window shop if I can't afford anything! I'm also browsing craigslist for a job, but so far nothing looks too interesting ... I hate having to find new jobs!
Thanks for reading my blog! I'll try to update every few days as long as there is things to write about that I don't think will be too boring. And now I really should start unpacking . . .

ReplyDeleteHi Elisa,
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you and Zoka made it safely to NYC. I bet you are happy to be with Mike again. Just as you are adjusting to the warm weather you'll experience a season change!
I had a blast doing SOM and it was such a pleasure to meet you. Several of us are on LinkedIn, which is a nice place to stay connected. You can get your own LinkedIn.com account if you want to join us. I am at www.linkedin.com/orgcoach. Once you get into my profile, you can see others from Attic and can add them. Even Mike (the Mike Guy) is in there. He has a link to the wedding scene on his.
Love & blessings,
Kathy

I'm still waiting to see the "unpacking" completed! :)
